Staying connected...

I recently came across an interesting infographic which demonstrated the importance of lifelong learning. I really loved the benefits section at the bottom of this diagram. One of the benefits mentioned was that lifelong learning assists us in staying connected to society. This really rang home for me as my son is quickly growing up and it wont be long before I am an empty nester.

So how am I to foster friendships? Heck, most of my 'friends' are parents of his friends. I think as we age that it can be incredibly easy to lose not only our physical strength, but more importantly our mental strength. It can be so simple to fall into a hermit state where it becomes 'easy' to stay home, and relax.

But what happens to our connections?

Lifelong learning is a great way to open our minds. It is also a great way to open our hearts to those who share our interests. Just think of the connections you can make!
